Paper proposals written in English or Chinese that pertain to any of the conference themes or specific research topics are welcome. Initial submissions must include title of paper, a short abstract (no more than 150 words), and the completed Registration Form. Deadline of paper proposals: May 15, 2011. The full paper or (at least) a detailed outline is due on or before July 1, 2011.
General Conference Schedule
August 6 (Saturday): Participants check in, reception dinner August 7 (Sunday): Full-day sessions, dinner August 8 (Monday): Full-day sessions, dinner August 9 (Tuesday): Half-day or full-day sessions, dinner* August 10 (Wednesday): Local tour, farewell banquet. August 11 (Thursday): Departure--Participants pursue their respective journey
(*depending on the number of papers; in case of half-day sessions, the remaining half-day may be used for local tour or free activity)
Accommodations
Accommodations are available to all participants at the Qi Xia Yuan啟夏苑 (formerly the University’s Quest House, equivalent to a three-star hotel) where the conference sessions will also be held. The charge is RMB¥140 per day for a standard one-bed room, or RMB¥180 per day for a suite or double-bed room. The charge for meals is RMB¥120 - ¥130 per day per person. Board and Lodging are exempt for all paper-presenters (but not observers).
Financial Support
A small number of stipends in various amounts are available for needy overseas or non-local scholars to defray the travel expenses of participation. Depending on need, availability of funds and the number of applications, the amount of support in most cases would be no less than the cost of board and lodging and no more than US$500 (US$300 for mainland participants). Scholars who are interested to apply for financial support must express their intention at the time they submit their paper proposals.
